Stock Market Closes Trading Session with Gains

The US stock market jumped as investors in the United States and all over the world bet that Republicans would retain control of the Senate and block any significant policy if Joe Biden wins the presidential election.

The US stock market jumped as investors in the United States and all over the world bet that Republicans would retain control of the Senate and block any significant policy if Joe Biden wins the presidential election.

On Thursday, the Dow Jones rose 575.05 points, or 2.06 percent, to 28,422.71, while the S&P 500 gained 77.76 points, or 2.26 percent, to 3,521.2 and the Nasdaq100 added 310.07 points, or 2.68 percent, to 11,900.85.

In Asia, the HSI jumped 3.25 percent or 809.78 points, while Japan’s NIKKEI jumped 1.73 percent or 410.05 points and China’s SHANGHAI jumped 1.30 percent or 42.69 points. In European markets, the STOX jumped 0.70 percent or 20.13 points and the FTSE jumped 0.39 percent or 22.92 points.

In commodities, oil prices fell 0.87 percent to be at $38,81 per barrel, while natural gas prices fell 3.48 percent to be at $2,94 per BTU.

Meanwhile, platinum prices fell 0.33 percent to be at $896,90 per ounce, while copper prices jumped 0.21 percent to be at $3,12 per pound. Also, gold prices jumped 0.10 percent to be at $1,948 per ounce and silver prices jumped 0.10 percent to be at $25,22 per ounce.

In currencies, the Euro fell 0.8796 percent to be at $0,8452 per US dollar, while the Yen fell 0.9093 percent or 0.9500 points and the Sterling fell 1.1561 percent to be at $0,7609 per US dollar.
