China has issued a temporary travel ban for travelers from Belgium, the UK and the Philippines in response to the current Covid-19 situation.

Statements issued in its respective Chinese embassies announced that they would no longer issue health declaration forms to non-Chinese nationals. However, the ban would not affect “holders of diplomatic, service, courtesy or C visas,” as well as foreign nationals who need to go to China for emergency purposes.

They also added that the suspension would be temporary, and is subject to changes depending on the development of the situation.

Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Wang Wenbin said, “This is reasonable and in line with international practices, and we believe everyone will understand”.

The UK has now over a million cases  with 47,742 deaths, as England returns to a month-long lockdown on Thursday. Belgium has also been struggling with 452,447 cases and 12,126 deaths, based on the latest World Health Organization data, while the Philippines reaches 388,137 confirmed cases and 7,367 deaths.
