UK Raises Alert level Following Vienna Terror Attacks

The UK terror alert has been raised from substantial to severe after the recent terror attack in Vienna.

UK Home Secretary Priti Patel announced that the MI5’s Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre has changed the UK terror threat level from substantial to severe.

“This is a precautionary measure and is not based on any specific threat. The public should continue to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police,” said Patel.

It is the first time the alert has been raised since the terror threat was lowered in November 2019.

The change meant that an attack on UK soil is now deemed “highly likely” by UK authorities.

Presently, the UK is already under strict COVID-19 restrictions and is dealing with the pandemic as the security in Europe worsened after the beheading of French school teacher Samuel Paty.
