Thailand’s King Maha Vajiralongkorn Addresses Protesters

As mass anti-government protests intensifies across Thailand and calls for reform of the monarchy increase, King Maha Vajiralongkorn has suggested a compromise, hinting that there may be a solution for the months-long political impasse.

As mass anti-government protests intensifies across Thailand and calls for reform of the monarchy increase, King Maha Vajiralongkorn has suggested a compromise, hinting that there may be a solution for the months-long political impasse. 

As Thailand continues to struggle economically due to the preventive measures  that were established to control coronavirus pandemic, protesters have begun to criticize King’s Vajiralongkorn’s immense power and wealth.

The demand of the protesters is to reform Thailand’s powerful monarchy to ensure that the King is answerable to the constitution.

Protesters claim that Thailand would not be able to achieve true democracy until the top-down ruling establishment made up of the military, monarchy and wealthy political elites is reformed.
