Stock Market Closes Trading Session with Gains

The US stock market jumped with tech juggernauts rallying ahead of major earnings reports and upbeat domestic economic data that calmed investors’ pessimism amid surging COVID-19 cases.

The US stock market jumped with tech juggernauts rallying ahead of major earnings reports and upbeat domestic economic data that calmed investors’ pessimism amid surging COVID-19 cases.

On Thursday, the Dow Jones rose 139.03 points, or 0.52 percent, to 26,658.98, while the S&P 500 gained 39.11 points, or 1.20 percent, to 3,310.14 and the Nasdaq 100 added 180.73 points, or 1.64 percent, to 11,185.59.

In Asia, the HSI fell 0.49 percent or 122.20 points, while Japan’s NIKKEI fell 0.37 percent or 86.57 points and China’s SHANGHAI jumped 0.11 percent or 3.49 points. In European markets, the STOXX fell 0.10 percent or 2.66 points and the FTSE fell 0.02 percent or 1.05 points.

In commodities, oil prices fell 3.26 percent to be at $36,17 per barrel, while natural gas prices jumped 0.43 percent to be at $3,30 per BTU.

Meanwhile, platinum prices jumped 0.28 percent to be at $851,90 per ounce and copper prices jumped 0.23 percent to be at $3,06 per pound. Also, gold prices jumped 0.01 percent to be at $1,868 per ounce and silver prices jumped 0.11 percent to be at $23,38 per ounce.

In currencies, the Euro jumped 0.7282 percent to be at $0,8576 per US dollar, while the Yen jumped 0.3644 percent or 0.3800 points and the Sterling jumped 0.5714 percent to be at $0,7745 per US dollar.
