Taiwan Hits Record 200 days with No Local COVID-19 Cases

Taiwan has hit 200 days without any local transmission of COVID-19 infections.

Taiwan has hit 200 days without any local transmission of COVID-19 infections.

Taiwan has recorded 533 cases of COVID-19 and just seven deaths.

Even though it has stopped local transmission, it continues to record new cases from people who come from abroad.

Taiwan, however, is not completely free of the virus. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)  has reported three new cases from the US, the Philippines and Indonesia.

CDC has also recorded more than 20 cases in the past two weeks that came from abroad.

Authorities said on Wednesday that they had received notice from Thai and Japanese health authorities that three people who had left Taiwan recently tested positive.
