France’s coronavirus infections have increased to 52,010 in the past 24 hours, health authorities said on Sunday evening.

France’s coronavirus infections have increased to 52,010 in the past 24 hours, health authorities said on Sunday evening.

Sunday’s data showed that 17% of the people who were tested during mass testing were found to have the virus on Sunday.

Case numbers have dramatically increased the last few weeks, with several records announced over the past seven days alone.

In response to the sudden incline, the French government brought in new restrictions for two-thirds of the country from Saturday. Under the new preventative measures, people can only go out at night if they have a valid reason to do so.

The regulation applies in 54 French administrative regions and French Polynesia in the South Pacific.
