The world’s largest solar farm will be at the cattle station halfway between Darwin and Alice springs, with energy that is being generated from the project to ultimately power Singapore.

The world’s largest solar farm will be at the cattle station halfway between Darwin and Alice springs, with energy that is being generated from the project to ultimately power Singapore.

According to Sun Cable, the company responsible for the project, the 10 gigawatt solar farm will be visible from space.

The Morrison government was granted major project status in July and has attracted billionaire investors including Mike Cannon-Brookes and Andrew Forest.

Sun Cable has made a deal with the current owners of Newcastle Waters, Consolidated Pastoral Company, to use the land.

Sun Cable expects the project to provide 1,500 direct jobs and 10,000 indirect jobs during construction, and about 350 permanent jobs once in operation.

Exporting solar energy can help expand Australia’s energy production while significantly reducing global emissions.

Australia has been responsible for approximately 1.4% of greenhouse gas emissions, which rises by 5% if fossil fuel exports are included.
