Explosion at Iran Petrochemical Plant Causes Huge Fire

A large structural fire started after an explosion occurred in a petrochemical complex in the Iranian city of Mahshahr.

A large structural fire started after an explosion occurred in the Khormosi Petrochemical Company plant in the Iranian city of Mahshahr.

Videos allegedly showing the fire with large plumes of black smoke have circulated online.

Firefighters from the plant as well as regional fire teams were deployed to fight the fires and to prevent it from spreading.

State broadcaster IRIB said on their social media account that no casualties or injuries were reported yet while investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the incident. 

Many explosions have occurred in Iran within the year which caused several deaths.

Just two weeks ago, a gas explosion at a market killed five people, and the week before that an industrial plant where one died.
