Police arrested seven British citizens of Pakistani origin, including two minors in their late teens, after allegedly attempting to run over a police officer with a car.

Police arrested seven British citizens of Pakistani origin, including two minors in their late teens, after allegedly attempting to run over a police officer with a car.

According to the police, a dark-colored BMW with “three to four people” on board, followed by a Mercedes, drove off the road and rushed towards at the police officer in front of the Israeli Embassy near the Champs-Élysées last October 19 around 7 p.m.

The officer avoided the car unharmed, but the suspects escaped.

Paris police opened the investigation for “attempted intentional homicide of a person in public authority.”

An investigating source told UK news company The Sun that the suspects were seen “lurking” near the Élysée Palace after escaping.

The suspects were taken into custody on October 20.

French media reported that both vehicles had fake license plates and that the suspects were without identity but claimed to be born in London and Pakistani.

The motive for the attempted hit-and-run is unclear.

The incident comes amid rising tensions in France after an Islam terrorist beheaded schoolteacher Samuel Paty and comes after two white women stabbing two Muslim women.
