Police arrested two female suspects after they stabbed two Muslim women under the Eiffel tower over an argument about unleashed dogs.

City prosecutors say that the two suspects in custody are described as being white women of European descent and that they face attempted homicide charges.

One of the victims was stabbed six times and suffered a punctured lung while the other needed surgery on her hands which was lacerated in the attack.

authorities confirmed that they had intervened after a call for help was raised by witnesses for two women with stab wounds at the Champ-de-Mars” around 20:00 CET.

One of the victims said the attackers had pulled out a knife after refusing to put their dogs on a leash and slashed her on the skull, arm, and ribs.

“We had gone out for a walk. At the level of the Eiffel Tower there is a small rather dark park, we took a little tour in it. As we walked, there were two dogs that come towards us,” said one of the victims.

Two local shop workers intervened during the attack and reportedly held one of the attackers down while the other tried to escape but was arrested later.

The attack came after the beading of 47-year-old teacher Samuel Paty last Friday by a refugee Islamist terrorist which prompted anti-extremist crackdowns across France.
